French utilities giant Engie has been hit with penalties of more than $2.5 million after door-to-door sales agents allegedly fraudulently switched hundreds of power and gas customers to its Australian retailing business without consent. The penalties against the Engie-owned retailer Simply Energy, announced on Monday, are the biggest-ever imposed by Victoria’s Essential Services Commission.
