'Optimism' Sets In for West Canada Gas Producers

Western Canadian gas production and prices are set to surge as regional demand and export markets are the most bullish in years, a boon to producers that have been languishing for years. Analysts see Canadian pipeline exports to the US averaging 5.8 billion cubic feet per day this year -- a far cry from nearly 10.4 Bcf/d at their peak in 2002 but the first rise seen in five years, US Energy Information Administration (EIA) data show.
