Well "Gekko" basically said that Banks wanted to be Hedge Funds and that was one of the reason... But regardless of what happened, I still believe bankers have a pretty high image and hedge funders are almost hated? So was thinking if one could have an option to "play" with like 100B... Would he expose himself as Hedge Funder or disguise as a bank and do the same thing, just incognito... Was also thinking what EGO factor plays in this because Hedge Funder might be more egotripic but (smart) Bankers can do just as much (influence), if not more, without that much exposure, if any... "I am just a banker"... You can still live a pretty good life (on the outside even) under the. pretence of "just a banker... nothing is mine, it belongs to the bank - while enjoying all the top perks this world can provide - just without public showoff"... You know what I mean? What would you do, should you have 10B (own money)... If you had to choose between family office, prop firm, hedge fund, mutual fund or THE BANK... and put yourself in "undercover", if you want to

Here is the Gekko's speech (Money Never Sleeps a.k.a. "Wall Street 2" - 2010)

Hedge funders were walking home with 50, 100 million bucks a year. So Mr. Banker, he's looks around, and he says, "My life looks pretty boring. " So he starts leveraging his interests up to 40, 50 to one with your money. Not his, yours. Because he could. You're supposed to be borrowing, not them. And the beauty of the deal, no one is responsible. Because everybody's drinking the same Kool-Aid.

Last year, ladies and gentlemen, forty percent of all American corporate profits came from financial services. Not production, not anything remotely to dowith the needs of the American public. The truth is, we're all part of it now. Banks, consumers, we're moving money around in circles. We take a buck, we shoot it full of steroids, and we call it "leverage. "I call it "steroid banking. "

So putting both together I think Axe is onto something... I myself would seriously consider to being a BANK vs HF.. if I had the option.. since it seems you can do HF in BANK just as well.. just with much less hate, better image + safety net, since you do support the system/quo Maybe I'm missing something but it seems that way to me

Would love to have a bank... Remember/recognise the quote? "My Bank Will"... BTW it is much cheaper than people think... Setting up (basic or specialised bank) would cost a fraction of any proper Hedge Fund... at least in EU, UK... https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/-/me...ldibecomeabank And you know what is even better... once you get to the (I)-Bank level.. juice is not (that) important anymore, if at all... since it is a commission or big numbers game business... aka money making money Just my thoughts...
Can you afford to take that chance?

I mean, I love the SMART and EFFICIENT sentences... The ULTRA support... I think MODELS are SMART AF.
At least I find this as the ultimate support/motivation vs nagging... And I think "she" knows she might get MOST of it by doing "nothing". Less is more...
I agree with "Dave Chappelle" mostly... Some/most men are very simple... here.

Private JET, BANKING "talk",... you name it... I mean... after the JET... "the rest follows"... Also nice to be ageing like wine, right?
The older the better, almost... at least for REAL deals.

Btw it is about Hedge Funder (Bobby Axelrod) (10B net worth) discussing (in this next episode - 05x03) about dropping HF in order to go where the REAL JUICE is (with the safety-net, as he reasoned)... He is (will be) discussing about what it takes to become a BANK... Or to have one... Sice at HF he is risking it ALL.. all day (either in market or in legal/crime).. and everyone is after him, he is hated by gov and all.. while observing bankers enjoying a goodlife (in 05x02 in particular), with "corporate jets and golden parachutes" as Gekko said in WS87 . And at the end of 05x02 he (Axe) had... "the clarity" moment, so now he will exploit the BANKING possibility... I approve.

Some dreams seem to be FOREVER, it seems... Let's remember... https://yarn.co/yarn-clip/bd4903ce-f...5-0c0d1c47b83b

Seems to be universal dream/image... down to Kramer. It is such a magnet that even with countless "warning" speeches about the industry changing, and even after big ones got in trouble... the attraction is still here To be a banker.. or "a BANK" itself

I find quite some similarities between trading and committing to any SERIOUS profession, just substitute what Woodruff is saying with trading/traders...
I think it is SPOT on for trading also.. At least from what I have observed... I still find it (de)motivating because it is a NO BULL warning - FRANK talk, I love it... and serious motivation to either COMMIT to it completely or forget about it (some compare trading to bank deposit - expecting fixed income while they would also egotrip and "spend" on emotions)... It is what it is... Some can argue which profession is harder... But let me tell you this... There is no clear path, either easy or hard... to MAKE it in markets... The other path might be HARD AF... but at least you know there is "SOMETHING" once/if you get there... While in trading... there is no rule that it has to be HARD or that you can't make it going the EASY route... But something is certain... Market doesn't care how/if you GET it - "it" will pay you well, if you got it right and if you don't, you will be left at the side of the road - in real trading. It is simple as that. If you can pull it off while going to strip clubs, glory to you... If you have read 1000 books and have multiple degrees/masters/PhDs or whatever and still can't BREAK EVEN... then no one is there to compensate you the time. If you can join all worlds, by having also a good education/tools+JUICE, then perfect, but if you can't make it, you can still go to other profession (selling, advising etc...) but not (real) TRADING. So I believe trading (being) profitable is one of the hardest profession there is... Just my thoughts... Or how some father said about his son... Basically... if they are smart/talented/hard_working... + KILLER INSTINCT, then he might propose INVESTMENT BANKING, trading etc... But if the one doesn't have the KILLER INSTINCT.. he might be much better in MED for example... Still good pay, after you done all the work, but the prize is there... While in trading, you have no one to cry to, no one to brown nose, "being good" is irrelevant etc etc... There is no path, no certainties... you have to make it rain for yourself... if you are in it for REAL trading, not just filling orders, providing liquidity or selling... Trading amplifies all your uncertainties, weaknesses, self-worth issues etc... EGO, emotions, ALL... You can see it all over forum... Some have very hard time... Markets are hard af... and some just can't handle it... Markets don't care (at least not directly) if you are illiterate or have 3 PhDs... But I personally believe that some tools/knowledges do help.. specially in math, stat, economics category.. but also from other/SCI professions... but regardless, you have to have THE JUICE... or you better...

The ones that know what I'm talking about will get it, the ones that don't... I wouldn't be able to explain in 1000 pages...

Tnx for the likes guys!

Regarding the picture of the couple, I have to sadly inform you that the love didn't last... The age difference might be (one of) the reasons...

But it seems he found a new lover, a younger woman (than the previous one) and they seem happy together.

Traders motivated by greed, always fail. Greed is a sin for a reason.
The only system that will work is one designed by and for yourself.
