{quote} Some good bounce today! Really curious about what the next few business days will bring! Some new developments in EU/UK/US so let's see how this reflects in the market.. Some started to loosen the lockdown(s) and some extended it, so we shall see (very) soon where this all might lead to... This would be my bet at least... So stay tuned..

Still looking for up! It will be very interesting to see where the price ends this week... Seems markets are pricing in the possible recovery/restart of production... Need a few more days of data at least, to make such conclusion...
Can you afford to take that chance?

It seems very tricky situation, CO2 markets is, I believe, looking for UP (again), but it is not completely convinced and awaiting more data... It is all down to corona and lockdowns easing/removal...

CO2 market is somewhat reluctant to go up... But it will be very interesting what happens in the next 1-2 weeks since some positive news are coming about the corona, from EU at least... Watching it closely! BTW current Expiry date is 14/12/20.

OK CO2 market showed will to go UPWARD now... as other markets... but let's see how far can it go, this time... Rose +3,57 just today... Imagine that...
I guess more people will watch/chase it after some will already make some crazy profits and publish it But right now it seems relatively uncrowded and some people earn mad money, silently At least this is how it looks like atm... So welcome to post about it at least.

+6,31% change today (if one would be able to apply good leverage to it, he/she could reach annual target already - just to implicate you the potential of this market-- and is not so "SPIKEY" as some others - it moves like TANKER - slowly but steady - with great force... Ok, let's give it a week... and will report later... it looks like it will restore to previous level, judging by this rate...

Wow some nice rise. It seems this economic recovery forecast really had an effect on it... almost 2200 again... Nice, it will be very interesting what happens next week, and special first week of June since international flights will be reestablished by some airlines etc... and we will see quickly where we are at due to EXP function etc.

Nice, this market seems to be recovering nicely... This might mean also mean EU is really (looking to) coming back "full force", at least for now.

Anyone trading any Carbon related products still? This EUA chart is a dream and I don't see it stopping anytime soon but IBKR is killing me on the margin requirements.

I'm struggling to even find the 2021 California Carbon Allowances on IBKR, has anyone traded these? Looks like I may be stuck with the KRBN ETF for the time being.

This Barclays GRN ETN will have to do for now. Just not the leverage or tax benefits I was hoping for...

Great find - for me this is less about trading and more about holding. I'm adding this to my longer-term group. It's hard for me to picture a world 10, 20+ years from now where carbon allowances aren't a major constituent of an industrial firm's operations.

Good intro on the market here. Of note, the prices were low for 10+ years due to oversupply then the policymakers wised up in 2018 and prices tripled as a result. With the green push going on now it seems likely there is massive upside here.

If you can get over the accent this is a great interview regarding the potential of carbon credits. And also a fascinating review of the oil markets over the last decade or so. Pierre also saw negative oil prices coming in 2020!

Nice find! The recent discussion of expensive carbon capture projects by majors makes me wonder 1) if there is a remotely reasonable method to price carbon per tonne by platforming off capex and 2) if we will one day see these large firms with carbon capture technology "issuing" carbon offset credits.. I believe small firms already do this in limited amounts, but it seems to have large potential for growth... I'll come back here when I find out more.

Figured out quite a bit from here. CER and EUA futures alone make up the Barclays GRN ETF. EUAs are the units issued by the EU. CERs are the product of validated within-country projects and several other variations exist, most of which can be traded for EUAs. (source)

EUA oversupply has been an issue since 2009 and to mitigate, auctions were reduced with the surplus credits put into a market reserve (source) (data). If I’m reading correctly it is until 2024 that credits can flow freely between the reserve and scheduled auctions, and the cap comes into play at that time and reserve level.

CER supply seems to be the left unknown, but almost seem to serve more like a measurement vehicle for credits that won’t be traded or ever enter the market. Need to check this more but I’m closer to trading.

If pre-2024 action is what determines the going-size of the supply cap, I would think we see the same price action that the initial 2018 policy change caused as that last 2023 auction is complete.

I'm due for an update here.
Long @ 20.84 (6/21)
Long @ 21.58 (6/24)
Long @ 21.97 (6/29)

I expect to keep adding, and probably won't be very timely with posts as these are longer-term holdings for me. The only event where I may close would be leading up to CME's launch of N-GEO contracts, though that seems unlikely as of today.

The fundamental story here is strong, just look at the growing size of the voluntary market - firms like Amazon are participating as well. Seems to me that this market is going to be huge.

Added more GRN this morning as I finished unwinding a brutal SQQQ position.
