2018 oil bets. This Friday we broke $60 mark for US Oil futures. My guess is the trend is up for 2018. Looking for new highs in 2018 Probably see and test $70 some time in 2018

You could be right. I realised this morning why the sudden lift in barrel prices. This thing in Iran is unlikely to go away before some months have passed, and if it gets really ugly then Iran could lose most of its output.

Oil price may correct but not by much. First we have to remove the aspects which are driving up the price.
- war in the Yemen
- discontent in Iran
- the loss of that VLCC ship with 1mmbbl now gone up in smoke
- Norks being diplomatic with South Korea which may lead to increased supply to NK
- horrendous cold weather in the USA (which could turn on a dime)

Well, it has been sometime since I did my last Oil trade, which to remind myself was a loss, not a big one but a loss none the less so I opened a short now at 63.90$ but a small one, purely based on technical analysis because the fundamentals don't really favor shorting and will be targeting 60$ optimistically

Agreed with previous poster. A short-term correction would actually be healthy. But if you look at data (i.e. demand vs. supply) can see demand continuing to grow faster than supply. As long as that remains true, the crude oil bull market will remain intact.

This being said, the commodity has been looking overbought since mid-November looking at simple technicals (e.g. RSI) or looking speculator positions on the CFTC.

Ok. There are several thoughts.

First, not sure about how we gonna go exactly in the next couple months. Second , long term trend still up. I wouldn't recommend short. Third, we not gonna see 50 bucks, dont even dream. 58- 59 is the most possible we can reach.
One more thing, after 64.80 next target 71.40

I forgot to follow up on this trade of mine. Well I closed it at 63.40$. So nothing even close to my original target but the price wasn't moving as expected to decided to cut it while still in profit.

What i expecting now is consolidation bellow 64.80 similar to what happened in the last year, but instead downward direction we will see bull trend. I reckon this range may hold up to March.

What is the fundamental situation with Oil guys ? I am thinking of shorting it again at 66$ and target something less than that, I haven't given it much tought yet.

I'm not a fundamentalist but would not recommend short. We are witnesses of a global correction, despite the fact that oil still in the downtrend it can reach 75-80 in the next couple months. My plan is: local high in March or Aipril than correction till June and than again upward trend till the end of 2018.
