So far we only know that there was a meeting between Ukraine and the United States, but nothing has been said yet about the terms of this ceasefire. To know whether or not Russia will accept the terms, we would have to know at least something about it. Nothing concrete so far.

Bilateral talks are, of course, easier than trilateral ones. The success of the bilateral talks (between the US and Ukraine) is putting massive pressure on Russia to agree to these agreements. This would probably not have been possible in a trilateral one. Compliments to the American negotiating strategy!

This is a cheap poison pill ploy where Ukraine gives an unacceptable olive branch to justify further escalation. 30 day ceasefire lol for what.

The world is watching as Ukraine and the U.S. propose a 30-day ceasefire to de-escalate the war. Now, it’s up to Russia to respond.

I don't see why Putin wouldn't accept the ceasefire. He is being saved. This was supposed to last 3 days, not 3 years, with 50 percent of the military destroyed, half a million soldiers killed or wounded, and the worst economic situation since the fall of the Soviet Union.
I wouldn't exactly call that an optimal situation.

Your comment would be spot on were Putin sane. Sadly the old fart thinks he should be Tsar and Russia should include all the old USSR republics. I agree it is a good way to save face but I also don't believe Zelensky will give up any lost ground for the sake of peace. People fighting for their homeland have incredible resilience. More so than Dimitri and Boris who are forced to the front lines and are just fighting because they are told to. Its sad because Russia is so rich with resources if Putin was even a little bit competent in caring for his country more than his image and oligarchs they could really have something there.
