US consumer confidence declines in July
Consumer confidence in the United States declined less than expected in July, the University of Michigan said in its final report on Friday. The Index of Consumer Sentiment fell 2.6% month on month to 66.4 but was higher than the preliminary estimate suggested and declined 7.1% compared to the same month in 2023. "Year-ahead inflation expectations fell for the second straight month, reaching 2.9%. In comparison, these expectations ranged between 2.3 to 3.0% in the two years prior to the pandemic.
