Never one to mince words, Puri has been a constant critic of action by the Opec-plus producer alliance to curb supply. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, India has been the most aggressive buyer of Russian crude, taking advantage of steep price discounts, but complying with the G7 price cap, according to the minister. India has also been testing non-dollar payments for cargoes. But Puri said such payments do not represent a move to de-dollarization of the oil trade.
