  • Fed to Hike Big Again and Open Door to Downshift

    The Federal Reserve looks set to deliver a fourth straight super-sized rate increase with Chair Jerome Powell repeating his resolute message on inflation and opening the door to a downshift -- without necessarily pivoting yet. The Federal Open Market Committee is expected to raise rates by 75 basis points on Wednesday to a range of 3.75 to 4%, the highest level since 2008 as the central bank extends its most aggressive tightening campaign since the 1980s. The decision will be announced at 2 p.m. in Washington and Powell will hold a press conference 30 minutes later. No fresh Fed forecasts are released at this ... (full story)

forecast 4% ...... very predictable rate hike is 75 bps

i agree. but we could see a full point hike considering the job numbers and higher wages. slim chance though

There is a snowball chance in hades of a 1.0% hike; in fact 0.5% is more likely than 1.0% (0.75% will be the #

What determines the FX market will be Powell's speech. Will he mention slower hikes? Will he mention 0.5% in the future or will he say that the FED will become data dependent?

Any and I mean ANY dovish mention will send DXY DOWN you know what that means!
...because you never know - until you do!
