  • Who gains most from Nord Stream sabotage?

    From asiatimes.com

The US has long opposed NATO’s (especially Germany’s) dependence on Russian, formerly Soviet, natural gas. The United States, in fact, used export controls to block the original Yamal pipeline in the 1980s, believing the threat of a Russian cutoff would alter Europe’s political decisions. As recently as 2018, then-president Donald Trump warned the Europeans at the UN General Assembly of the potential for a Russian energy cutoff. My bet is that it is already known who caused the explosions. Poland's ex foreign minister has already thanked the US.
Stubborn, often slow but still learning!

Both Joe Biden and Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland have made verbal threats against the 2 pipelines. Before this their anti pipeline speeches could have been laughed off. Completely reckless if we did this. It's an enviromnental disaster.

It’s pretty simple mate: 1. Make threat. 2. Carry out threat. Zero innuendo involved.

Common sense and Occam’s razor suggest you are as wrong about this as you were about Mariupol. The US have a long history of using energy as a diplomatic tool to achieve their goals.

There are currently large scale protests occurring in Germany demanding the reopening of Nord Stream 1 and the opening of Nord Stream 2. These options are entirely off the table thanks to this act of sabotage. It is not in Russia’s interest to destroy this very expensive and potentially profitable infrastructure which is beneficial to both parties and Europe as a whole.

Thousands march in Gera, Germany, against energy sanctions. Links below.

Let's not ever say anything against Biden, particularly not in here, where any words or finger pointing against the president (regardless of evidence), is political $hit stirring, probably bordering on hate speech.

In Trump times of course, innuendo was the accepted flavour in these forums, however it seems to be no longer.....
