1. MetaTrader 4 Update to be released on February 3rd The major update for MetaTrader 4 Trading Platform (Build 574) containing many changes is to be released on February 3. Among other things, the changes include considerable expansion of MQL4 functionality and introducing the MetaTrader 4 Market App Store. According to MetaQuotes the updated language provides a great number of new functions. That has caused concern among traders about operability of the older versions of trading robots and custom indicators. They assure everyone that old EX4 files will work the same way as before. The update has brought the new functions, while the older ones have remained intact. In order to maintain compatibility, the runtime environment copy of the previous MQL4 version has been implemented providing operability of all older EX4 files. MQ’s announcement has raised some questions by our clients testing and converting their indicators who have reported that most of them do work, but there are some exceptions that require significant effort, such as restructuring and rewriting the code to become compliant with the new compiler. Therefore FinFX wants to inform our clients that we do not upgrade to latest version of MT4 until it has been fully tested on by our development team and with our technology providers. Usually we wait couple of weeks or more before upgrading our servers depending on the changes MetaQuotes have made. Build 509 will be usable as long as MetaQuotes keeps the build available for login. Currently the oldest supported version is build 500 and according to MetaQuotes this should not change meaning that even after we have upgraded our server to the latest build (574), clients can still use the old build 509.
